On March 10, 2023, our officers observed a reported stolen Hyundai Accent traveling southbound on Mare Island Way near Harbor Way. San Francisco Police Department alerted that the owner of the Accent was attacked and then carjacked for her vehicle.
Our officers activated their overhead emergency lights and attempted to conduct a felony traffic stop on the Accent. The driver refused to pull over, resulting in a pursuit into Hercules. The driver lost control of his vehicle near the I80 westbound and Hercules exit.
The male exited the vehicle's rear passenger door and sprinted away from the collision. Our officers chased the male and arrested him after a tiring foot pursuit.
Due to the male being in a collision, he was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance for incarceration. The male was then booked into jail. The owner of the Accent was contacted and advised on the status of her vehicle.
